We set off for a walk from the Yacht Club Marinatour where we have a berth for a few daysEveryday ferries from the mainland of Sardinia come and go from the main port of CarloforteWe spend a couple of hours exploring the popular little tourist townThe houses are all attractively painted in lovely pastel coloursIt always is good to get off the boat and get some exercise, especially when it has been too cool to swim!!The old city wall is still in quite good conditionOver the years the locals have stablised the walls and repaced many of the bricksThe original town wall is quite substantial and continues right through the townOverlooking the town with a population of around 6000 peopleIn the distance the lagoons behind the town can be clearly seenThe pastel houses of Carloforte are very attractive with their wrought iron balconies
The Chiesa dei NovelliCarloforte has retained it’s wonderful old world charmGreat service with a smile in one of the local gelateriasThere are many two and three wheelers in townWe go and have a look at one of the other marinas in the portMarina Sifredi is quite a large marina with numerous permanent and visitor berthsThe fishing harbour beside Marina Sifredi has many fishing boats of all sizesThis one was very cuteFishing (especially tuna) around Isola di Sant Pietro, has always been one of the major industries of the islandRic is in charge of the cooking tonight!!Tonight we cook our own Sardinian fish in the ovenOur delicious fish is cooked in wine and stock with potatoes, tomatoes and vegetables
