2016-05-20 Club Marinatour, Carloforte, Isola di San Pietro, Sardinia We set off for a walk from the Yacht Club Marinatour where we have a berth for a few days Everyday ferries from the mainland of Sardinia come and go from the main port of Carloforte We spend a couple of hours exploring the popular little tourist town The houses are all attractively painted in lovely pastel colours It always is good to get off the boat and get some exercise, especially when it has been too cool to swim!! The old city wall is still in quite good condition Over the years the locals have stablised the walls and repaced many of the bricks The original town wall is quite substantial and continues right through the town Overlooking the town with a population of around 6000 people In the distance the lagoons behind the town can be clearly seen The pastel houses of Carloforte are very attractive with their wrought iron balconies The Chiesa dei Novelli Carloforte has retained it’s wonderful old world charm Great service with a smile in one of the local gelaterias There are many two and three wheelers in town We go and have a look at one of the other marinas in the port Marina Sifredi is quite a large marina with numerous permanent and visitor berths The fishing harbour beside Marina Sifredi has many fishing boats of all sizes This one was very cute Fishing (especially tuna) around Isola di Sant Pietro, has always been one of the major industries of the island Ric is in charge of the cooking tonight!! Tonight we cook our own Sardinian fish in the oven Our delicious fish is cooked in wine and stock with potatoes, tomatoes and vegetables Leave a Reply Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
