2016-05-15 Marina di Capitana to Portus Karalis, Cagliari, Sardinia
At last we are ready to take the first leg of our journey this year on the TangaroaGoodbye to Hotel SighientuA lone seagull sends us off this morningGoodbye to the wonderful staff at the Marina di CapitanaLooking back to the Tangaroa’s home for the past 6 monthsOnce out of the port we head west along the south coast towards CagliariAs we approach Cagliari several cargo ships lie in the bayWe arrive in the port of Cagliari which is only approximately 20kms along the coastThe skyline of the island’s capital, CagliariA couple of large cruise ship are in the port todayWe radio in and organise a berth in the Karalis Marina which is beside the commercial port in CagliariWe are given a great position almost in the centre of the townA good safe mooring for a few days for usAfter we arrive in the port we take the short walk into the lovely old townThe weather has improved and today it is a lot warmer than it has been for a while
Cafes and bars undercover along via Roma are very popular day and nightMany restaurants are situated in Via Sardegna, one street back from Via RomaOnce again we go to the AnticaCagliari, this time for a late lunch!The mussels are always deliciousThe swordfish baked with potatoes and tomatoes in a sauce was wonderfulFor dessert we share an amazing looking icecream dishOn our way back to the boat, I had to get Ric to pose beside the giant anchorBack to the Tangaroa in Portus Karalis
