2016-04-30 Cruising Association Accommodation, London This morning we chose to get up at a ridiculous hour for us and set off for a full day of sightseeing There wasn’t a ripple on the water in Limehouse Basin this morning Although the temperature was quite cool at around 7 degrees, there was no wind at all and the sun was quite bright The buildings in the city centre could clearly be seen in the distance On our excursion we pass the iconic pub, The Prospect of Whitby, dating back to 1320 We follow the wonderful walkways along the Thames The Tower Bridge is not too far away The Tower of London is one of the most visited famous sights of the area We buy tickets to the hop on hop off bus, which is a great way to see and get around any of the major cities of Europe Big Ben is always highlighted in most photos taken in London The London Eye certainly is never missed on anyone’s photo collection. Or are the black cabs!! Westminster Abbey is a must destination!! An illegal photos taken inside the Abbey!!! Such clear spring weather brought so many Londoners out to the parks for lunch today Time for another visit to the National Gallery We spent several hours wandering through the amazing National Gallery which was full of incredible artwork from famous artists from different time periods While on the bus, the magnificent St Paul’s Cathedral comes into view While crossing the iconic London Bridge we capture a great view east towards Tower Bridge with a visiting ship in the foreground The modern buildings blend well with the old ones in London today Across the famous Tower Bridge one again A “PedalBus” looks like a lot of fun to get around the city!! The well photographed modern icons of London A walk through the very busy Trafalgar Square is always a must when visiting London!! We decide to walk the 3 kms back along the Thames again to Limehouse Basin to where we are staying Back to the narrow boats in the locks and basins The Cruising Association Building, where we are staying, which has 5 “Cabins” (small comfortable modest rooms) which are available for members to book out while in London for an equally modest price!! Dinner tonight at Gordon Ramsay’s “The Narrow” at Limehouse Basin Fabulous pepper steak for us both tonight after such an energetic day!! We have an after dinner drink in the adjoining bar at the Narrow, with some lovely young Londoners and an Aussie in a checked shirt!!
