2015-09-29 Cala Coticcio, Caprera Island to Cala di Volpe, Costa Smerlda, Sardinia Italy A couple of goats appear high up over the bay The tiny beaches are empty today in Cala Coticcio, as the weather is changing and rain and wind has been forecast for the next few days Our friendly seagull will miss all the nibbles we fed him over the past 24 hours We decide to make a move and head south towards Olbia, north west Sardina, where we intend dropping off Hans and Lotta the following day It wasn’t long before we experienced water on the deck in the confused seas Looking back to Caprera Island We pass a lighthouse at the bottom of the La Maddelena Islands Continuing south we are not the only vessel heading in the same direction The forecast was correct about the wind and seas As we enter Porto Cervo a yacht leaves the port under quite rough conditions The yacht seems to disappear into the troughs of the waves Entering the famous harbour of Porto Cervo, which is the port for the rich and famous, we pass some nice real estate near the narrow entrance With the weather cool and rainy there wasn’t a lot of action in the port There certainly were some fine homes around the port We tied up at the end of the pier with the assistance of a dinghy boy who did not know the prices for a berth for the night Ric and Hans decided to go for a walk and get some information on the charges for the marina and soon returned saying the place was like a ghost town and the charges for the night was over 150 Euro for the night!! We decided that we would continue south and find a sheltered bay for the night on anchor rather than pay top dollar for almost deserted port Leaving Porto Cervo we decided to return next year to see the port when it is at it’s best!! For another 45 minutes we put up with a little discomfort as we head south A motor boat races past us at great speed We arrive in a fairly sheltered bay in the Costa Smerelda area where there are some lovely homes This is where all the rich and famous have their holiday homes We drop our anchor near some exclusive company The Fair Lady is also on anchor in Cala di Volpe A fourth boat arrives in the bay for the night A good Australian barbecue dinner for us aboard tonight Ric opens a nice bottle of Sardinian red to have with our fillet steak and sausages Hans and Lotta today survived probably the worst weather and sea conitions we have had for a while aboard the Tangaroa Leave a Reply Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
