2015-09-24 Porto Cala Gavetta, La Maddalena Island to Cala Coticcio, Caprera Island, Sardinia, Italy
Our friends prepare for their departureA lovely wave goodbye from Cathy and VeroniqueAfter a cold, windy and rainy day yesterday, this morning the day looks much better
We were pleased we came into the port mid afternoon a couple of days ago. That day we managed to do all the washing (and drying) after the departure of our guests. Yesterday as forecasted, the wind and lots of rain came, so we were quite secure here in the portAs we were not in such a hurry to leave, by the time we departed the port most of the yachts had already leftPorto Cala Gavetta, La Maddalena IslandWe pass another ferry bringing passengers to the islandThe military is out on patrol today – they actually did a circuit around our boat!!After leaving La Maddalena Island we return to Caprera Island and continue north up the west coastWe arrive in Cala Coticcio, a lovely bay on the west coast of Caprera IslandThe sun seems to be shining on just one of the rocks in the coveThis is very popular anchorage during high season however only a couple of yachts are moored here as we arriveAfter we drop our anchor here in this beautiful bay, a few more small boats come
There are 2 small beaches at the head of the bay that can only be accessed by boat or by a 45 minute walk here by a track
The scenery is stunningThe rock formations all around the bay are quite unusual
This little dachhund has perched itself on the bowspit to have a look at the beach where it’s owner has swam toAnother large yacht sails byIn the distance we can see the mountains of SardiniaSuperb sunsetVegetarian pasta for dinner aboard tonight
