Our neighbours for a couple of days
This morning we depart as the wind has died down and the day looks clearLooking up to the fortress as we make our way out of the port
Calanque de la Cantena a small narrow bay in the Bonifacio harbour where one can anchor a yacht if lucky enough to get a spot
We pass the other bay Calanque d’Arenella which is circular bay near the entrance in the harbour in which anchoring is forbiddenHeading out with company through the narrow entrance of the Bonifacio harbourPointe de GouvernallThe King of Aragon’s Stairway which we successfully accomplished yesterday, can be clearly seen carved into the limestone cliffs of BonifacioThe houses perched so close to the edge make an amazing, yet frightening sight
The light house on Capo Pertusatu with a rock formation in the foreground that resembles a ship !!
We continue along the narrow southern coast of CorsicaWe pass some lovely homes which are situated close to a golf courseWe arrive in a picturesque bay between mainland Corsica and the small island called Ile PianaThe water is an amazing turquoise colour in the shallow bayThe beach appears to be empty apart from numerous kyaks for hireLater dark clouds started to appear in the distance over mainland CorsicaWe leave the bay and head towards Ile Cavallo, a small island nearby with the La Maddalena Archipelago in the backgroundThe houses on Ile Cavallo have been tastefully built so they blend in with the surroundingsWe continue on to Porto Massimo which is a sheltered mooring in the north east of La Maddalena IslandWe continue across to Caprera Island in the east and motor south and then north back to La Maddalena town (passage between the 2 islands is impossible due to a causeway connecting them)Finally the pastel coloured houses of the port of La Maddalena, where hope to get a berth for the night, come into viewWe enter the main port of La Maddalena Island
