We conveniently caught the small tourist train to take us up to the old walled town The western end of the port of Bonifacio We were able to get a few good shots of the boat on our way up We approach the large fortress that overlooks the port The train took us out towards the entrance to the harbour where we had a clear view of the circular bay called Calanque de l’Arenella We decide to tackle the King of Aragon stairway 189 steps to the bottom ….and 189 steps back to the top!! The steps are a popular exercise before lunch Once at the bottom of the steps we follow a pathway carved into the limestone cliffs which takes you to a grotto The grotto where fresh drinking water was collected in ancient times is now a shrine to all the visitors who have visited the spot Kate has been shopping!!
