We leave the Vieux Port Marina to continue southOnce we leave Golfe d’Ajaccio we head south east passing numerous bays and also the port of ProprianoPunta d’Eccica and it’s low lying islets which one has to take care to avoidPassing a fast moving vessel going in the other direction
A catamaran makes it’s way up the coastOn the south west coast of Corsica there are some lovely beaches such as Roccapina, which we would have been happy to visit if the wind had not been so strongFishermen trawling in the very choppy conditionsWe carefully pass Les Moines which is a group of rocky islets a few miles off the shoreTorre di FigariIn the distance we see the high limestone cliffs of BonifacioKate capturing all the amazing sceneryCap de FenoRic taking a breather from skippering the boatWe approach the hidden entrance to the ancient Bonifacio harbour which is in a calanque (a long narrow opening in the chalk hills)A catermaran heads into the strong breeze after leaving the portThe buildings and cemetery clearly visable by the harbour entrancePunte de la MadonettaThe cliffs and light tower on the west side of the port entranceThe narrow entrance to BonifacioOnce inside, the carved cliffs on either side of the narrow harbour and the ancient city walls are absolutely spectacular

We radio in and hope a spot is available, as you cannot book a berth in advance in the Bonifacio port unless of course you are a superyachtFortunately a space is available and with luck we get a prime position in the portTangaroa in BonifacioRod and Kate and the Bonifacio sunsetAlong the harbour are numerous restaurants and shops on either side of the walkwayThe place to go if you are a sweet tooth!!La Caravelle was the choice for dinner tonightA stunning restaurant with equally stunning pricesKate had the fish and Rod had some pastaRic and I ordered the very much overpriced fillet steakAfter dinner we went for a walk along the foreshore and found Restaurant Les 4 Vents which would have been another good choice for dinnerThe limestone cliffs in the harbour look like clouds in the eveningFrom the stern of our boat we had a brilliant view of the changing colours of the Fort above
