2015-09-13 Vieux Port, Bastia, Corsica, France Very overcast conditions in Bastia this morning The 4 of us set off on foot for a stroll around the town St Jean Baptiste Cathedral overlooks the port in Bastia We capture a glimpse of the Tangaroa through the yachts moored in the port The birthday boy!! To get our exercise for the day, we all walk all the way up to the fort to get a better view over the port Great views from the old Fort in Bastia We managed to find some shelter under a portico from the downpour which lasted about 15 minutes Kate looks quite dwarfed beside the massive church doors Market day today in Bastia Le Jean Bart Restaurant, situated in the main port looked like a nice choice for Ric’s Birthday lunch It is great to have our friends from home coming to visit us while they are on holiday in Europe A nice vino bianco was perfect after our long walk Ric and I both chose the delicious and light fish and vegetables for lunch today Happy Birthday Ric !! Rod also seems to be enjoying his creme brulee at lunch Early evening we went for another walk, firstly going up and along the top of the breakwater Dark clouds in the distance are returning The wind and the waves appear to be getting stronger We all got quite windblown out on the seawall Nobody seems to be sitting outside tonight at the restaurants along near the harbour Although the peak season has well and truely finished there we still a few tourists in town Fairy lights still glowing through empty streets in the town tonight As was forecast for the evening and overnight, high winds brought a huge surge into the port which covered the quay with a river of water and made all the boats rock and roll for most of the night Leave a Reply Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
