2015-09-11 Barbatoia, Isola d’Elba, Italy to Vieux Port, Bastia, Corsica, France We make and early start from the small Gulf of Barbatoia with the town of Fetovaia in the background Punta Fetovaia, the entrance to the small gulf on the south east coast of Isola d’Elba After almost 2 wonderful weeks, we depart Isola d’Elba Heading due west we approach the north east coast of Corsica Our destination, the town of Bastia comes into clearer view after 4 hours of motoring The old town of Bastia The fortified city walls of Bastia are quite conspicuous from the water We approach the harbour of Vieux Port in the old part of Bastia where we had already reserved a berth for the night Tangaroa in Bastia Once the Tangaroa was securely tied up and washed down we take a walk around the port Not far away we find the local fishermen with their fresh catches for sale There is no shortage of restaurants around the edge of the port Chez Mireille is a well know patisserie in Bastia What a fabulous Deli ! Francis from Brussels, the owner of the quite new Princess 57 beside us, was busy cooking for his family on his Webber barbecue We decide to dine out tonight at ‘Le Cosi’ which was situated very close to where we were berthed in the port We both order the steak which was quite large, although not as thickly cut as we are used to in Tasmania. Our pleasant North African waiter provided us with a couple of “doggie bags” for the leftover steaks and the amazing vegetable dish which he personally had made. When we told him we loved his dish he promptly brought an extra couple of bowls!! The dessert was also quite delicious On our way back to the boat we take a different route Leave a Reply Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
