Morning in the Gulf of Mola by AzzurroThe beautiful port of AzzurroDeparting the port to find a nice bay nearby to spend the dayPart of the old city wallsThe San Giacomo Fort built by the Spaniards in 1603 stands above Azzurro is now believed to be used as prisonWe pass the popular Naregno Beach with Capoliveri in the backgroundWe approach the Spanish built Fort Forcado at Capo Pearla on the southern side of the gulfWe drop our anchor in the beautiful little bay beside the fortIn the small bay there are three lovely villas above a tiny beachWe spent most of the day enjoying the crystal clear water hereIt is not long before another boat arrives in the bay
Elada a 45 metre superyacht motors past and heads towards AzzurroMeanwhile our friend John arrives into the bay to come and join us
We raft our two boats togetherWoei Haw and John, originally from NZ on his lovely yacht, the AwateaOn our return to Azzurro we see Elada moored in the bay for the nightThe Awatea is also closebyThis evening we collect John and his friends by dinghy to go to Capoliveri for dinnerIt is tight in the dinghy with Woei Haw, Paul and Ric on one sideMichael, John and I on the othersideThe last rays of sun on the pastel coloured houses as we arrive in the portThe crew of the AwateaLuigi our taxi driver collects us all in his 7 seater and we head up to Capoliveri

We booked dinner tonight at Taverna Dei Poeti in CapoliveriA small house appetiser of octopus arrivesAs a primi course, Michael orders the dish with 3 types of gameRic and I have the grilled octopusRic had the fabulous monkfish with pistachio sauceJohn, after having pasta for an entree and Paul both enjoyed the duckMichael had the amazing scallops filled with mozarellaWoei Haw and I both had the delicious lobster with tagliatelleOut numbered by the boys tonight !!I was certainly pleased with my choice of the daily special of fresh lobster with pastaOur lovely waitress said this one was her favourite – we all tried it and agreed!!The chocolate flaky pastry dessert was also amazingSaturday night in Capoliveri
On our return to Azzurro, from the main square, loud gunfire could be heardAzzurro is the Spanish capital of the island and the occasion was to do with the Spanish invasion
