2015-08-25 Porto Turistico di Roma, Ostia to Marina to Riva di Traiano, Italy
This morning we leave our nice mooring on the riverWe fuel up at the marina before we departThe sailing boat and the Nordhavn are owned by 2 couples who we met who are sailing around the world together, Robbie & Jo from Brisbane and Peter & Heidi from HamburgYachts are tied up beside the small island in the channel and along every space along the riverWe return to the mouth of the river passing the amazing fishing structuresAs we pass, a net is being lowered into the river by a guy very relaxed lying back in a deck chairThere is a confused sea at the entrance to the river
Every minute a plane takes off from Fuimicino Airport nearbyWe have wind and a confused sea on our way to our next destination, Riva di TraianoThe waves seem to causing havoc at these swimming bathsThe marina we are booked in is just south of Civitavecchia, where all the cruise ships moor while in RomeWe finally arrive in the calm waters of the marina
By coincidence we were given a berth beside a yacht owned by an Australian couple whom we met in MaltaUnfortunately they had left for a few days so we did not get the opportunity to catch up with themLooking out through the entrance of the marina there still were waves pounding along the shore
The Marina Riva di Traiano is quite a large marina catering for the many boat owners from Rome and surrounding citiesCurry for dinner again tonight
