2015-08-17 Cala Inferno, Ponza Island, Italy This morning the sun was out and the weather was bright and warm again Today we go and explore Ponza town and find a restaurant to have a nice lunch Looking back to where we moored overnight Looking at the houses in the north west of the main Ponza Harbour We lock up our dinghy securely with a whole group of others We set off to have a look around this lovely town Along the elevated walkway above the harbour are many shops and a couple of restaurants all geared for the many tourists that visit the island High quality fruit and vegetables are also on sale here This small restaurant is all ready for it’s lunch guests The fleet of fishing boats tied up in the harbour make a great sight More shops as we walk through the narrow streets further around the bay We follow the signs for the ancient cistern which took us high up the narrow streets to a structure in someones private back garden The renovators delight that looks over the bay Excellent views from the streets above the town Around the bay we see what looks like a nice place to have a late lunch Gennarino A Mare also has a few floors of hotel accommodation behind the restarant Gennarino A Mare has an amazing outlook over Ponza Harbour We have a delicious seafood entree Some grilled vegetables Chilled local vinno bianco Next we have a good Italian Risotto Francesco the owner of the restaurant joins us at the table Gennarino A Mare has a pier where we could have tied up the boat while having lunch An employee from the restaurant runs us back to the Tangaroa at high speed to retrieve another set of keys after Ric had misplaced our key to unlock the locks on the dinghy The beach beside the restaurant in Ponza Harbour Looking back to the Gennarino A Mare The restaurants along the harbour are already prepared for dinner guests this evening Hopefully our dinghy is still safely tied up in the port ! Our lunch venue now has dinner guests that have arrived by boat, already tied up to the quay We make our way back to Cala Inferno Francesco from the restaurant told us his Father owned this small island at one stage The nice view we have from the Tangaroa of Ponza town Sunset in Ponza Leave a Reply Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
