We depart from our overnight anchorage from under Isola di NisidaWe pass the town of Pozzuoli which in ancient times was a major port for RomePozzuoli is known for it’s severe earth movements and the area has been evacuated in the past in fear of a large earthquakeExtensive mussel farms are in all parts of the Gulf of PozzuoliThe Fortino Tenaglia looks quite impressive in the gulfThe castle on Procida Island appears in the distance through the entrance to the almost landlocked Port MisenoCape MisenoWe cross the short distance to Isola Procida from main land Italy via the Canale di ProcidaIn the distance we can see the Castello Fort on Isola Procida with the high hills of Ischia in the backgroundLooking back to the coast and AcquamortaIt is not long before we approach Isola ProcidaThe Marina by Procida townAlthough Procida has a very ancient history, the Castello and fort were built in the 1500’s
We arrive in the exquisite bay called Cala di Corricella
We drop anchor in the stunning bay which will be a good mooring for the nightRic goes ashore to check out the town
Our friend John and two companions arrive in the bay for the nightSharon swims over to the Tangaroa and after a chat and a glass of bubbles, Ric takes her back to the Awatea to get ready for dinnerIn the tiny port, rows of small boats cling to the shoreAs it was already late, we chose one of the restaurants on the foreshore in Cala di Corricella
Sharon chose the vegetarian fuscilli pasta dish
John could not pass by the baked rabbit
Shaun enjoyed mussels as an entree and spaghetti for his main courseGrilled vegetablesand more vegetablesRic and I shared the fish and pasta, which would have been enough for 4 people
It was fabulous to catch up with John and meet Shaun from England and Sharon from NZ
