2015-08-05 Isola di Nisida to Cala di Corricella, Isola di Procida, Flegree Islands, Italy We depart from our overnight anchorage from under Isola di Nisida We pass the town of Pozzuoli which in ancient times was a major port for Rome Pozzuoli is known for it’s severe earth movements and the area has been evacuated in the past in fear of a large earthquake Extensive mussel farms are in all parts of the Gulf of Pozzuoli The Fortino Tenaglia looks quite impressive in the gulf The castle on Procida Island appears in the distance through the entrance to the almost landlocked Port Miseno Cape Miseno We cross the short distance to Isola Procida from main land Italy via the Canale di Procida In the distance we can see the Castello Fort on Isola Procida with the high hills of Ischia in the background Looking back to the coast and Acquamorta It is not long before we approach Isola Procida The Marina by Procida town Although Procida has a very ancient history, the Castello and fort were built in the 1500’s We arrive in the exquisite bay called Cala di Corricella We drop anchor in the stunning bay which will be a good mooring for the night Ric goes ashore to check out the town Our friend John and two companions arrive in the bay for the night Sharon swims over to the Tangaroa and after a chat and a glass of bubbles, Ric takes her back to the Awatea to get ready for dinner In the tiny port, rows of small boats cling to the shore As it was already late, we chose one of the restaurants on the foreshore in Cala di Corricella Sharon chose the vegetarian fuscilli pasta dish John could not pass by the baked rabbit Shaun enjoyed mussels as an entree and spaghetti for his main course Grilled vegetables and more vegetables Ric and I shared the fish and pasta, which would have been enough for 4 people It was fabulous to catch up with John and meet Shaun from England and Sharon from NZ Leave a Reply Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
