2015-08-04 Marina Piccola, Capri Island to Isola di Nisida, Campania Italy Many of our upmarket neighbours are still in the bay this morning We take the dinghy out and have a closer look around this amazing bay Tangaroa in Piccola Bay By Il Favignana there a few small grottos La Fontelina Restaurant A Wally for one of the super yachts The town of Giardini di Augusto above Piccola Bay on Capri It is time for us to leave before the bay becomes over run by a thousand more small boats Once past Il Favignana we head north By Punta di Tragara there is another small popular bay which also has a nice restaurant built over the rocks Continuing up the east coast of Capri we pass a few amazing houses built on the cliffs We leave Capri and enter the large Gulf of Naples Almost all the coastline of the Gulf of Naples from Sorrento to Naples to Cape Miseno is populated. All the towns which are overlooked by Mount Vesuvius, have over the years merged together City of Naples Naples is a large port which has many cruise ships visiting all year around especially between April and November Porto Naples is the major port on the west coast of Italy A number of cruise ships are in the port today Castel Nuovo in the foreground The marina is situated just west of the heart of the city Castel Sant’Elmo the medieval fortress overlooking Naples The Santa Lucia district of Naples Castel del’Ovo Super yachts lined up like soldiers in this other marina in Naples Continuing west along the coast Looking back to Naples Amazing villas, some of which are in need of repair, line the the shores of the Gulf of Naples We approach Isola Nisida which is attached to the mainland by a narrow causeway Porto Paone, a circular small bay on Isola di Nisida has only room for one boat – we were tempted!! This islet has a lot of ancient Roman history, where Brutus and Cassius hatched their plan to murder Caesar on the island The marina by Isola Nisida We join the only other boat in the bay and drop our anchor behind the 3 masted sailing boat The Port Authority Building in the harbour The port by Nisida Island seems to be quite industrial We find out late in the evening that the 3 masted sailing boat is actually a party boat which circles the bay with it’s partygoers and loud music until 2am Leave a Reply Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
