Don and Susie test out the new bikesThe marina in PalinuroWe leave the lovely little port of PalinuroIn the hills in the distance near Palinuro, we can see the tiny village of Montano Antilia which we visited the day beforePunta Licosa a popular day mooring where we stopped for a swim on our way up the Italian coastAnother Menorquin is here which is the same size as ours which was at Palinuro while we visitedIt was nice for us to meet the Carusos and compare notes on our boatsPunta Licosa with San Marco Di Castellabate in the backgroundGood Italian lunch as we continue on our wayAfter travelling 50 kms from Palinuro up the west coast of Italy, we near the Amalfi CoastThe town of Amalfi, our destination comes into sightThe Amalfi Coast has always been one of the busiest tourist areas of ItalyIn 2003 we spent a few days staying in Amalfi with our friends Rod and KateHotels and and apartments line the surrounding hillside of Amalfi townSince our last visit, thousands of colourful umbrellas have made their permanent mark on the beach
With a prior phone call and thanks to the Carusos for their advice, we were fortunate to secure a berth in the Amalfi portHow lucky are we to have such a wonderful position in the heart of the town!!The amazing church in Amalfi town glows in the evening lightOnce the boat and it’s crew were washed down and tidied up it was time for a very late dinner (as the Italians do)Being late and not wanting to walk too far we come across La CaravellaOnce inside we thought this would be one of our more expensive dinners!!A dish on the houseA very pleasant Syrah was orderedRic choses the pork with mushrooms and beansSusie and I have the fish with lemon and shrimpsDon decides on the stuffed calamari
