2015-07-20 San Pietro, Panarea Island to Porto di Levante, Vulcano Island , (Aeolian Islands) Sicily We depart from our small, tight spot overnight in San Pietro tied up in rows with many other boats on buoys at both stern and bow Our very friendly boat jockey Looking back at Stromboli Island where we visited the day before Once we leave the small port we head south We arrive at Cala Junco, by Punta Milazzese which is on the south coast of Panarea Island A fabulous spot to have a swim before all the tripper boats arrive Around this amazing small bay, remains of an ancient Neolithic village dating back to 1500 BC has been recently excavated Don and Susie are enjoying the relaxing aboard and also the swimming exercise everyday Once we had our swim we leave Panarea and head south west to Lipari Island We stop for lunch moored off an old pumice factory at Porticello in the north east of Lipari Island Continuing south to the main port of Lipari we try to get a berth in the port, however it was far too busy and nothing was available Lipari town is one of the most popular in the Aeolian Islands for young people and it can be quite noisy with music all night We were not too disappointed when we read that there is quite a big swell rolling into the bay at night too!! We continue on south after taking plenty of photos of the lovely town On the southern point of Lipari Island is a small beach called Spiaggia di Vinci Another lovely bay to spend the afternoon swimming A boat load join us in the quite little bay Don catching up on some emails while taking a breather between swimming A cute little boat in the bay with us Sunset by Spiaggia di Vinci, Lipari Island We head directly south to Vulcano Island which is less than a kilometre from Lapari Island We plan to spend the night on Vulcano Island in Porte di Levante Vulcano Island has an active crater which last erupted in 1888 and 1890 Puffs of smoke constantly rises from the Gran Cratere on Vulcano Island Our sailing friend John is moored beside us in Porte di Levante John joins us all for a vegetarian pasta dinner Leave a Reply Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
