2015-07-12 Scopello to Castellamare Del Golfo, Sicily
Early morning in beautiful Scopello
An assortment of croissants (chocolate, cream and custart filled) delivered to us at 8.30 am by a local who we met the day beforeDuring the morning the boats started arriving to Scopello bayAfter borrowing our dinghy pump a group of young Sicilians pose for a photo in their floating water toy
The crowds on the shore have arrived by lunch timeOnce again Ric was the good samaritan by assisting with jumper leads to start the motor of a small rib with a flat batteryJumping into the water from the large rock by the shore was popular for some of the young swimmersTime to make our escape from the busy bayFrom Scopello we continue down the stunning Golfo di Castellamare
Less than half an hour later our destination comes into viewWe arrive in the port of Castellamare del GolfoAnother yacht with an attractive coloured hull arrives in the portWe decide to anchor out in the bay tonightCastellamare del Golfo is an ancient town built on the steep slopes around the bayBy dinghy we approach the pretty town from the waterNo doubt Castellamare del Golfo is a busy tourist town for the SiciliansThe port seems to be quite full tonightIt appears tonight there is a food and wine festival happeningWe decide to try one of the local restaurants called “Il Patio” by the Cala MarinaThe grilled fresh fish which we ordered, was expertly filleted and plated by the waiterYou cannot get better than simply served fish with lemon and a plate of grilled vegetables on the sideWe were talked into sharing the cassata cake which was deliciousThese tiny delicious almond biscuits were served with the complimentary grappa at the end of the mealIt was quite late by the time we finished dinner and got back into the dinghyThe lit up castle looked incredible as we made our way back to the Tangaroa
