2015-07-11 Cala Fredda, Levanzo Island to Scopello, Sicily
Early morning in Cala Fredda on Levanzo Island
The picturesque village of Cala Dogana nearby
Passing another small bay as we make our early departure
From Levanzo Island we pass Trapani in the distance on our journey north east
The fishermen are already busy pulling their nets
Mount San Guillano
The lighthouse at Capo San Vito
The very popular tourist beach at San Vito Lo Capo on the north west tip of Sicily
The long beach has white sand and crystal clear turquoise water
There are quite a few pleasure boats in the area
Stunning coastal scenery along this coast
Limestone hills
Friendly locals give us a wave
We approach the beautiful natural reserve along the coast called Zingaro
A few small boats are anchored in a small pretty bay
We decide to join them and drop our anchor so we can go for a swim
The narrow beach has many people that have either walked into the area or come by boat
I go for a swim to the tiny deserted rocky beach nearby
There are plenty of photos to take of the Tangaroa from the shore
The turquoise water and red rock made a stunning contrast
Hardly a space on the beach and in the water within an hour of our arrival in the bay, so it was time for us make our departureWe continue along the picturesque coast
We approach Scopello Bay which is a safe anchorage for the night
The buildings in the tiny sheltered bay were originally a tuna factory
There are ancient ruins in the area including one perched on a high rock by the water
A lovely home in Scopello with steps down to the water
Shortly after our arrival a bride and groom arrive with their entourage !!!A lovely mother and son on a neighbouring boat
At the south west entrance to the bay is an unusual rock rising from the water
After photos in and around the buildings at Scopello, the bridal party leave for their reception
By evening we celebrate being the only boat left in the magnificent bay
Together we cooked a picante vegetable sauce which we had with local fresh pasta – delicious !!
