Early morning looking over to the small village of Levanzo in Cala DoganaThere were only a couple of other boats in Cala Fredda overnightThe small hamlet of Levanzo is the only village on the small island with the same name
A sea mist appears to the south with Isola Favignana in the backgroundWe pass Il Faraglione at the south western tip of the Levanzo IslandWe make our way up the rugged west coast to Carla TramontanaWe continue slightly north to Cape Grosso where we picked up a mooring and swam for ages in the crystal clear warm waterSome recreational divers arrived as we were leaving and they were happy to take the mooring we were usingThe rugged cliffs of the coastline here were quite spectacularThe lighthouse at Cape Grosso, the northern tip of Isola LevanzoNow we head west to Isola Marettimo, one of the other islands in the Egadi groupIn the distance we can see the town halfway along the islandWe approach the the north east point of MarettimoMany tripper boats bring boat loads of people to tour around the Egadi IslandsThe Punta Troia fort sits high above overlooking two bays in the north east of MarettimoWhile in Scarla Maestro we picked up a mooring buoy and took the opportunity to have a long swimIt wasn’t long before the Marina Protected Area Officers arrived to collect money for using the mooring. Fortunately we still had a few hours left from yesterday’s payment!!After a couple of hours we moved around the corner to Carla Manione and dropped our anchorA large private yacht and a much smaller boat tied up beside, were moored in the picturesque bay. There were several children aboard whom were having a lot of fun on a floating platform tied behind the boat. The Punta Troia Fort can also be seen from this bay
Locals heading back after a day of cruisingAfter a few hours we head south passing the small town of Marettimo with it’s two miniature harboursA couple of visiting yachts are moored in Scala Nuova by the townWe head around the west coast of the island and drop the anchor in a delightful bay where we thought we would stay overnight
Later we moved again, back to the south east bay which would give us more shelter if the wind came up overnight
We stayed in the beautiful bay of Finocchio Marino for the night
