2015-07-04 Colombus Marina, Trapani to Cala Fredda, Levanzo Island, Sicily
After several days at the friendly Colombus Marina we are looking forward to a few days out on anchorWe pass the old lighthouse in the port on our way outWe plan to return to Trapani in 4 days time to have our water maker put back in after repairsApproaching Isola Levanzo, one of the beautiful marine protected Egadi Islands which are not far off the coast from TrapaniThe quaint port of Cala Dogana comes into view
We first enter Carla Minnola, a small bay in the south east of the tiny island however we found it did not have a lot of swinging room for usThe next bay west called Carla Fredda had quite a few red mooring buoysWe picked up one of the few red buoys still available in the bayWe were amazed to see this young man riding all around the steep rugged rocks along the shoreA couple of larger vessels were arriving to moor near the small villageAlthough there were quite a few boats in the bay, the surroundings were very pleasant and we were able to swim and relax in the sun all afternoonThe island of Favignana is only a few nautical miles south of LevanzoBy evening most of the boats that were in the bay had departed as quite a few were day trippers. A charge of around 30 Euros per 24hrs to pick up one of the moorings if over 10m long – we picked up a mooring and when the Area Marina Protetta constabulary came past, we paid!!
