Erice on the mountain behind Trapani, where we spent the day yesterdayWe ride around the boardwalk along the ancient walls of TrapaniThe freshly graded beach by the ancient city walls has attracted many sunbathers enjoying the still and warm weatherPart of the ancient city wall is beside the popular ‘Le Mura Restaurant’A row of very ancient olive trees still survive in the cityThe long streets of the old town were designed to go along the trajectories of the wind which would be a relief in the summer heatCorso Vittorio Emanuele is the major street of the old town and a couple of the fine churches and beautiful Baroque buildings can be found here
The magnificent Cathedral San Lorenzo was unfortunately undergoing repairs during our visitTime for a coffee !!
At the end of the main street is the stunning Palazzo SenatorioIn a nearby street we find the ornate Chiesa del PurgatorioChurch of Sant AgostinoPalazzo Della VicariaA fine building in Garabaldi PiazzaTonight we dine at ‘Le Mura Restaurant’Ric orders a local vino rossoA mixed entree to share was recommended by the waiter (we said we only wanted to share a small entree)!!There were two entree platters of interesting looking food – black fish was a first time for me? Perhaps it was lot in translation!!For main course (which I certainly did not need after such a large entree) I was talked into having the couscous with fish which came with a bowl of stock on the side – interesting!Ric ordered a steak which was actually cooked to order and covered with tiny tomatoes and grated cheese !!
