Montagna Grossa with fort Santa Caterina perched on it’s highest point on Favignana IslandWe leave the island and return to the coast of Sicily and continue west to the port of TrapaniArriving in Trapani we make our way to the Columbus Marina where we were recommended to stay by the mechanic that was booked to do some work on our boatThe Port of Trapani in ancient times was originally the port for the nearby ancient hilltop town of EriceAs the marina was tightly booked we were only able to get a berth along the outer pier with the smaller local boats -fortunately at a discounted price!!At the front entrance to the Colombus Marina is a statue of Maria Stella Maris a protector of the Mediterranean SeaVincenso the mechanic was delayed a few hours so a coffee and a stroll around the town was on our adjendaNo shortage of Italian Restaurants here in TrapaniStatues are plentiful in town tooThe statue of Italian Patriot Giuseppe Garibaldi who lived in the 1800’sThe ancient town of Erice perched on the hill behind Trapani
