2015-06-30 Sciacca to Punta Longa, Favignana Island, Sicily Pierre and Marianne Goodbye to our new friends We had very pleasant time staying at the Marina Lega Navale Italia in Sciacca Once we left the port we continued west along the Sicilian south west coast We approach the ancient site of Selinunte The small town receives many tourists over the summer months visiting the famous ancient site The magnificent Greek acropolis which has been reassembled, dates back to around 600 BC Other temples of the area are from around 400 BC Along the coast were kilometres of sandy beaches The white tower of Capo Scario Continuing west we enter a very dense sea mist Our original plan was to go into Mazara Del Vallo and visit the ancient sites nearby however we had been in marinas too long and we were keen to anchor out before going into Trapani We head towards the island of Favignana which is approximately 6 km from the Sicilian west coast Approaching the island the Aragonese fort can be seen on Montagna Grossa We anchor in the bay beside Punta Longa in the south of the island A few yachts are moored in the bay and people are swimming off the rocks nearby An Australian family who are cruising in the area, call past in their tender to say hello After a long swim in the not so warm water (only 20 degrees) we have our first night on anchor for quite some time A full moon tonight Jet streams in the darkening horizon The fort is well lit up at night Wonderful colours at sunset Leave a Reply Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
