As we motor west along the coast we again see the amazing white limestone cliffs of Scala Dei TurchiThe small beach side town by Scala Dei TurchiThe hillside is very barren along this part of the coast
We stop for a few hours to relax and have a swim before going into port
Our next port of call along the southern coast of Sicily is SciaccaThe port entrance of the pretty town of SciaccaWe radio in to secure a berth in the Marina Cale Del Sole
During the late afternoon there are many small boats crowding into the small bay nearby our boat in the portEven people on jet skis arrive tooBy 5.30 in the afternoon there seemed to be a huge flotilla of boats in the bayWe discover it is festival time this weekend, where the patron saint of the water is honoredA slippery pole competition is being prepared where the pole is expertly greased by the local fishermenThe local crowds line the foreshore of the bay in the port to view the competitionMany entrants to the heats of the difficult slippery pole competition today only managed to get halfway along the pole before falling into the water
