This morning we moved the Tangaroa over to the shipyard in the marina, so we could get a welding repair job done while we were out sightseeing during the dayWe have heard that Marina Di Ragusa is a good place to winter a boatOverlooking the large marinaWe set off by hire car and drive to the town of Ragusa which is 20kms inland from the marina Arriving in Ragusa it is hard to miss the massive viaducts that span the townAfter parking the car we set off to explore Ragusa. The street artwork looked interesting!Our first stop is the Cathedral of San Giovanni which is a fine example of Sicilian Baroque architecture built in the early 1700’sThe interior of the Cathedral is quite beautiful
Old buildings and churches are plentiful in townThe modern Post Office in Ragusa is adorned with sculptures We head towards the old town of Ragusa IblaThe view over the old town was quite stunningIt is believed that Ragusa Ilba has been inhabited since the 2nd Millenium BC
Sightseeing by foot one always comes across wonderful little streets and alleyways We arrive at the San Pietro Church in the old townThe groom and a few quests have already arrived for a weddingWe continue on further to explore Ragusa Ilba
Returning to the church we wait a few moments and then the bride and groom appear after their vowelsSome interested bystanders!!
After a wonderful day spent in Ragusa we make our way back to Marina Di Ragusa
