2015-06-20 Siracusa, Sicily Dioniso Restaurant where we had a really delicious dinner a couple of nights ago Our first stop today was the Da Vinci Exhibition of Machines The exhibition consisted of replicas of machines actually designed by the Leonardo Da Vinci After viewing the Da Vinci Exhibition we bought tickets to ‘Artemision’ for viewing an excavation site, situated under the building We visit the remains of the ancient ‘Temple of Artemis’ located off Via Minerva below street level At first we thought these were ancient latrines however they actually were draining seats for corpses of priests and laymen. The dead were lined up seated and left to decompose!!! Back to the Magnificent Duomo in Siracusa The Duomo Piazza The musicians start and the local bikies stop to listen Our next stop is the Galleria Regionale Di Palazzo Bellomo which is a museum which also displays artworks Near the entrance is the courtyard which is decorated with coats of arms A wonderful piece of artwork painted by Antonella Da Messina in the 15th Century on display at the museum Several very old etchings of well known tourist spots in Siracusa were also on display Looking towards the entrance to the Grand Harbour in Siracusa We head back in the direction of the Duomo Piazza I never tire of photographing the magnificent Duomo in Siracusa Ric poses again with the bearded planters We head back to the boat via the unfinished town quay and marina Curried vegetables and chicken for dinner tonight Leave a Reply Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
