11th September 2013 Bozcaada Island to Canakkale A Vehicle and Passenger Ferry Arrives as we Make Our Departure We Intend Returning to this Lovely Town with it’s Wonderfully Restored Castle The Minaret from the Local Mosque Towers Above the Small Fishing Port Small Quaint Restaurants Line the Foreshore Behind the Castle Our Last Opportunity for a Swim at Tavsan Adasi, North of Bozcaada, Before Entering the Dardanelles We Approach Gallipoli Peninsular and the Dardanelles The Turkish War Memorial and Huge Flagpole, Stand Prominently at the Entrance to the Dardanelles The British War Memorial and the Lighthouse on Mehmetcik Burnu (Formerly Cape Helles) are Conspicuous on the West of the Entrance The Turkish War Memorial is Visited by Thousands of Visitors Every Day As We Enter the Dardanelles in the Distance at Our Stern was a Ship that First Resembled an Island The Massive Ship, King Ore which is 289 Metres in Length and 45 Metres Wide was on it’s Way to the Black Sea The Dardanelles is One of the Busiest Waterways in the World Ships of all Shapes and Sizes Use this very Busy Waterway The Navy has also a Presence in the Dardanelles Kilitbahir Castle Situated Opposite Canakkale Approaching the City of Canakkale Cimenlik Fortress which is in Close Proximity of Canakkale The Harbour and Ferry Terminal in Canakkale The Canakkale Naval Museum Downtown Canakkale Fishing from the Pier is Very Popular in Canakkale Ferries from Canakkale Take Passengers to Major Sites and Towns in the Dardanelles The Entrance to the Ferry Terminal Yalova Restaurant is Believed to be One of the Best Restaurants in Town We Secure a Berth in the Municipal Marina in Canakkale The Marina Houses Vessels of all Shapes and Sizes The Trojan Horse in the Town Square which was Used in Movie (Starring Brad Pitt) was Later Donated to the Town Dark Clouds Start Appearing Over the Town Late Afternoon The First Rain and Thunderstorms we have Experienced in Many Months Irish Sailors Jimmy and Lyn Called in for a Drink and Ended up Joining us for Dinner Leave a Reply Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
