2017 Van Diemen’s Land Circumnavigation Cruise

This year aboard the CAIA (our Australian Motor Yacht) we participated in the Van Dieman’s Land Circumnavigation Cruise which is run by the Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania, where we have been members for many years (combined total around 80). The cruise in company, is very well organised and departs from Hobart in mid February, immediately following the iconic Tasmanian Wooden Boat Festival. It has been going since 1992 and is held every 2 years. This year there were 43 participants, mostly from other states of Australia, such as Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia, including one entry from the United Kingdom. On departure from Hobart the VDL Cruise circumnavigates our magnificent island state of Tasmania in an anticlockwise direction. Comprehensive manuals with detailed instructions and valuable information are provided to each entry before departure. During the cruise a number of functions are organisied on certain dates, which include dinners, beach barbecues etc.
